Two Kinds of Timeless is a Twine project I made in 2020 that utilizes a large amount of custom CSS properties and in-line HTML code to tell a unique story with each page having an illustration-centered layout. The core design goal was not just to display text, but to make the digital interface itself an expressive artistic element that conveyed disorientation and emotional states.
Using the Twine editior, I added in-line stylesheets for CSS manipulation and custom flex-box containers to create a dynamic layout that changes based on the story's progression. Each illustration I created was framed by text in a dynamically updating layout that took liberal advantage of grid layouts to reinforce narrative meaning, such as the visual separation and eventual convergence of the main characters.
I eventually published the work (after making it mobile-friendly-ish) in the 54th issue of Indiepocalypse, a zine-style game publication that highlights the best of the alternative indie game scene.
